Where to Buy a Treadmill in South Africa
Share
You can buy a treadmill in South Africa from a physical showroom, a general marketplace, or a specialist online supplier. We are the third — we ship free to every province, including Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. If you want to stand on a machine before buying, visit a showroom near you first, then come back and compare.
That is the honest version. A treadmill is a large purchase and different buyers need different things, so this guide covers all three routes rather than pretending one always wins.
Should you buy a treadmill in person or online?
Buy in person if you are unsure what deck length suits your stride, or if you have never used a treadmill. Buy online if you already know the specification you need — the selection is wider and the pricing is usually better, because there is no showroom floor to pay for.
What a showroom genuinely gives you is five minutes on the deck. That tells you whether the machine feels stable under you, whether the deck is long enough for your stride, and how loud it is. Those three things are hard to judge from a photograph, and if you are uncertain, they are worth a trip.
What a showroom cannot give you is range. A floor holds what fits on a floor. Our treadmills range runs to 81 machines, which no showroom in the country will stock simultaneously.
What should you ask before buying a treadmill anywhere?
Horizon Evolve 3.0, R10 499 — delivered free anywhere in South Africa.
Ask four questions: what is the continuous motor rating, where do replacement parts come from, what does delivery actually include, and what happens if it does not fit through the door.
Continuous horsepower, not peak. Peak is a marketing figure. If a seller quotes only peak, assume the continuous rating is low.
Parts supply. Belts, deck boards and motor controllers wear out. If nobody in South Africa stocks them for that model, the machine is disposable regardless of the warranty printed on the box.
What delivery includes. Kerbside drop or into the room? Up stairs or not? This is where marketplace listings hide costs.
Access. Doorway widths, corner turns, lift dimensions. A machine that cannot reach the room is a return, and returns on large items are expensive for everybody.
Is it safe to buy a treadmill from an online marketplace?
Wp15 with handrail, R4 936 — the cheapest machine we will stand behind.
It can be, but check who the actual seller is. Marketplaces host many third-party sellers, and the platform's protection covers the transaction, not the parts supply two years later. Unbranded machines at unusually low prices are where most regret comes from.
The pattern we see repeatedly: a machine arrives, works for a year, then the belt or controller fails. Nobody stocks the part, the brand name means nothing, and the machine becomes scrap. The money saved at purchase bought eighteen months.
If price is the binding constraint, buy the cheapest machine from a named brand rather than a better-specified machine from no brand. Our entry-level guide covers what is worth buying under R15 000, and our warranty guide explains why parts matter more than years.
Do you deliver treadmills to Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban?
Horizon T101-27, R15 329 — free delivery to every province.
Yes. Delivery is included on every order to every province in South Africa. Larger machines are booked in rather than left at a door, so we arrange a time and transport that suits the site rather than dropping a crate on a pavement.
We are based in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape and ship nationally. If you are in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein or anywhere between, the machine comes to you at no extra cost.
What we need from you when you order: stairs, narrow passages, lift dimensions, and a restricted loading area if there is one. Tell us up front and the delivery is straightforward. Tell us on the day and it is not.
How should you prepare for a treadmill delivery?
Measure the route before the machine ships, clear the destination room, and confirm who will be home. Treadmills arrive boxed and heavy, and the difference between an easy delivery and a failed one is almost always measurement.
Work through this before you order rather than after:
- Narrowest point on the route. Usually a doorway or a stair turn, not the front door.
- Lift dimensions if the machine is going above ground floor in a block. Include the diagonal.
- Ceiling height in the destination room. Deck height plus the tallest user plus a hand's clearance.
- A clear path. Furniture moved in advance saves the delivery team time and you frustration.
- Plug point position. The machine needs its own circuit, not an extension lead shared with a television.
If anything on that list is tight, tell us before the order is processed. We would far rather redirect you to a machine that fits than arrange a collection.

Can you buy a used treadmill in South Africa?
Yes, and ex-commercial machines are often better value than new budget ones. A Pre Loved Horizon T101 at R10 200 is a better-built frame than a new machine at that price. Check parts availability before committing.
Our pre-loved range is small because we only list machines we would put in our own homes. Private sales carry more risk — no warranty, no recourse, and usually no service history.
Talk to us before you order
Send us your room dimensions, ceiling height and whether you will walk or run. We will tell you which machine fits and, just as often, when a cheaper one in the range would serve you better.
