Collection: Flooring
Gym flooring available from Gym Machines runs to 14 listings. This category page exists to make that manageable: everything grouped together, priced, and ready to narrow down to whatever fits your space and budget.
What we stock
Gym flooring here is not all built for the same job. The listings break down into flooring, HIIT and related items. Brands in this category include LivePro.
Gym flooring suits home setups and small studios in particular. Where a listing is borderline for your use, the specification on the product page usually settles it — and if it does not, ask us.
Narrowing it down
Gym flooring can look interchangeable online, so it helps to have a short checklist.
- Warranty and parts availability matter more than headline specification once equipment is a few years old.
- Check the material. Closed-cell foam resists sweat and cleans easily, while open-cell absorbs it and degrades faster.
- Check how it stores. Rolled, hung or stacked makes a real difference in a room that has another purpose during the day.
- Read the full specification rather than the headline. The number in the title is rarely the one that decides whether something suits you.
- Surface texture decides whether it stays put under load — anything that slides underfoot is worse than nothing at all.
Tiles, rolls or mats
The format matters as much as the material, and the three do different jobs.
Interlocking tiles suit rooms with an awkward shape and anyone who wants to start small and extend later. They are the easiest to lay without tools and the easiest to lift if you move. The trade-off is the seams, which collect dust and can separate under equipment that gets dragged.
Rolls give a continuous surface with far fewer joins, which is what a busy floor wants. They are heavier, harder to handle alone, and need cutting to fit — but once down, they stay down.
Individual mats suit a defined zone rather than a whole room: under a treadmill, beneath a rack, or as a dedicated lifting platform. If most of the room will never see load, mats are the cheaper and more sensible answer than covering the lot.
Thickness follows the use. Dropped weights need real depth beneath them; machines and bodyweight work do not.
Duty rating explained
Gym flooring listed on this page covers more than one duty rating. For a household training a few times a week, home-rated equipment is usually the sensible choice and the extra spend is better put elsewhere. The honest test is hours per week: light use forgives a lot, and constant use forgives nothing.
Room, access and layout
Gym flooring needs less space than most gym equipment, though the training area around it still matters. Natural light and ventilation change how often a space actually gets used, which is worth as much as the equipment choice. Mirrors help with form on anything technical and are cheap relative to the equipment they sit alongside. Store it where you will actually reach for it. Anything kept in a cupboard on another floor gets used a fraction as often.
What it costs
Gym flooring here ranges from R236 for the smallest items up to R21 061 for complete packages, and the typical listing sits near R636. The gap between the two ends is almost entirely build quality and duty rating rather than features, so it is worth being honest about how hard the equipment will actually be worked.
Making it last
Gym flooring lasts considerably longer with a small amount of routine attention. Let anything fabric dry fully before rolling or storing it, or it will hold moisture and start to smell within weeks. Clean mats and fabric goods with mild soap and water rather than solvents, which break down rubber and foam over time. Touch up chips in paint or powder coating rather than leaving bare steel exposed, particularly on anything stored in a garage.
Where to look next
Gym flooring is rarely bought on its own. Most people looking at this page also compare gym flooring, accessories, current deals and HIIT equipment. It is also worth a look at cardio machines, strength equipment, free weights and treadmills before deciding.
