If you are putting together a space that has to work every day rather than look good once, the 1.2M Olympic Curved Bar is worth a close look. It forms part of our barbells lineup.

Stripped of marketing language: this is a barbell for people who train consistently. Stated details include 1.2m.

Who it suits

It works best for barbell work across squats, presses and pulls, and lifters who want a bar that holds up under load. Outside that, there may be a better match in the range — ask us.

Getting it in place

Confirm the bar length fits between your rack uprights, and that the sleeves clear the J-hooks.

Before you decide

Check the load rating against your working weights, with headroom. A bar rated close to your top set will not last.

Against the other 68 barbells we stock, this sits in the middle at R1 800 — the range runs R238 to R8 599, so there is room to move either way if the fit is not right.

Check sleeve rotation occasionally; a sticking sleeve puts strain on wrists during cleans.

For context on how often adults should be training muscle groups, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

The practical gap between light and heavy-duty barbells is not the badge, it is the rating: frame gauge, bearing quality and how easily wear parts can be replaced. Buying slightly above your current needs is almost always cheaper than replacing early.

Delivery across South Africa is included on every order. Larger items are booked in rather than left at a door, so tell us about stairs, narrow passages or a restricted loading area when you order and we will arrange transport that suits the site.

Questions about fit, access or compatibility with what you already own? Contact us before ordering and we will confirm it properly.
