Every gym has a piece of kit that quietly does most of the work. For a lot of setups the 34 OB Bar Dia 30mm is that piece.

In plain terms, this is a barbell intended for regular use rather than occasional. The listing states 30mm.

A good fit for

Think home platforms and commercial floors, and barbell work across squats, presses and pulls. Those are the situations where this piece makes the most sense.

Setup notes

Check the bore matches your plates — Olympic sleeves take 50mm plates, standard bars take 25mm.

Worth thinking about

Bearing bars spin more freely and suit Olympic lifting; bushing bars are usually fine for general strength work.

Priced at R2 160, it is the 30th of 68 barbells we list (R238 to R8 599). Worth comparing before you settle.

Wipe the bar down after sessions and brush the knurling periodically — chalk and sweat together are what corrode a bar.

For context on how often adults should be training muscle groups, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

Details worth knowing

  • Category: Barbells & Bars
  • SKU: 16930
  • Stated: 30mm
  • Condition: new unless the listing states otherwise

If you are planning a full setup, Free Weights, Barbells & Bars, Weight Plates and Racks And Cages are the sections that usually go with this.

Commercial and home equipment differ mainly in duty cycle — how many hours a day the frame, bearings and upholstery are designed to take. Equipment built for occasional use will usually survive a home routine comfortably but will not last on a busy floor, and the difference shows in the parts you cannot see rather than the finish.

Every order ships free anywhere in South Africa. For heavier pieces we confirm access and offloading before dispatch — worth flagging stairs or tight corners at the time of order rather than on the day.

If you want the 34 OB Bar Dia 30mm checked against your setup before you commit, get in touch. We would rather spend five minutes on measurements than arrange a return.
