Active Plate Loaded Shoulder Press

Every gym has a piece of kit that quietly does most of the work. For a lot of setups the Active Plate Loaded Shoulder Press is that piece, and Active built it for the job.

In plain terms, this is a strength machine intended for regular use rather than occasional. Full specifications are shown on this page and in the product images.

A good fit for

Think gyms training members who are new to free weights, and commercial floors needing guided, repeatable movement. Those are the situations where this piece makes the most sense.

Setup notes

Check the delivery route carefully. Strength machines are heavy and awkward, and access is usually the constraint rather than the room itself.

Worth thinking about

Cables, pulleys and guide rods are the wear parts. Check they are replaceable and that spares are available locally.

Priced at R20 569, it is the 12th of 60 strength machines we list (R12 665 to R71 920). Worth comparing before you settle.

Keep guide rods clean and lightly lubricated, and check cables for fraying on a schedule. Cable failure under load is the risk worth preventing.

For context on how often adults should be training muscle groups, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

Browsing options? Strength, Plate Loaded Machines, Free Weights and Commercial Strength are the categories most people compare this against.

Commercial and home equipment differ mainly in duty cycle — how many hours a day the frame, bearings and upholstery are designed to take. Equipment built for occasional use will usually survive a home routine comfortably but will not last on a busy floor, and the difference shows in the parts you cannot see rather than the finish.

Happy to help you compare the Active Plate Loaded Shoulder Press against the alternatives, or check it will go through your door. Just ask.
