Athletic 150BS Advanced Spinning Bike

Choosing exercise bikes comes down to matching the equipment to how hard it will actually be worked. The Athletic 150BS Advanced Spinning Bike, from Athletic, is aimed at people who want something that holds up.

What you are getting is a exercise bike designed to be used properly and often. The images and title carry the detail we publish for this unit.

Who this is for

This one suits low-impact cardio in a small footprint, and home riders training year round. If that describes your setup, it will earn its place.

Installation and space

Plan for power only if the console needs it — many spin bikes are entirely self-powered.

What to consider

Flywheel weight and resistance type set the ride feel. Heavier flywheels give a smoother, more road-like feel; magnetic resistance runs quieter than friction.

We stock 61 exercise bikes between R3 354 and R110 618; this one is in the middle at R5 934.

Check pedal and crank tightness periodically, and confirm the pedal type suits your shoes.

On how much cardio is actually worth aiming for each week, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

The specifics

• Brand: Athletic
• Category: Spinning Bikes & Cycles
• SKU: 4214
• Condition: new unless the listing states otherwise

If you are planning a full setup, Cardio, Spinning Bikes & Cycles, Rowing Machines and Gym Flooring are the sections that usually go with this.

Commercial and home equipment differ mainly in duty cycle — how many hours a day the frame, bearings and upholstery are designed to take. Equipment built for occasional use will usually survive a home routine comfortably but will not last on a busy floor, and the difference shows in the parts you cannot see rather than the finish.

If you want the Athletic 150BS Advanced Spinning Bike checked against your setup before you commit, get in touch. We would rather spend five minutes on measurements than arrange a return.
