Athletic Upright Bike-6100bvp TFT

Every gym has a piece of kit that quietly does most of the work. For a lot of setups the Athletic Upright Bike-6100bvp TFT is that piece, and Athletic built it for the job.

In plain terms, this is a exercise bike intended for regular use rather than occasional. Full specifications are shown on this page and in the product images.

A good fit for

Think home riders training year round, and spin studios and group classes. Those are the situations where this piece makes the most sense.

Setup notes

Check the floor. Bikes concentrate weight on four small feet, so a mat protects both the surface and the machine.

Worth thinking about

Look at the drive system — belt drives are quieter and need less maintenance than chains.

Priced at R37 267, it is the 51st of 61 exercise bikes we list (R3 354 to R110 618). Worth comparing before you settle.

Keep the frame and flywheel wiped down. Sweat corrodes bolts and bearings faster than use does.

On how much cardio is actually worth aiming for each week, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.
