Rq40 Recumbent Exercise Bike

Every gym has a piece of kit that quietly does most of the work. For a lot of setups the Rq40 Recumbent Exercise Bike is that piece.

Stripped of marketing language: this is a exercise bike for people who train consistently. Where a measurement matters to you, ask us and we will confirm it before you order.

A good fit for

It works best for spin studios and group classes, and low-impact cardio in a small footprint. Outside that, there may be a better match in the range — ask us.

Setup notes

Confirm the footprint and leave room to mount and dismount either side. Spin bikes need less space than most cardio equipment, which is part of their appeal.

Worth thinking about

Check the adjustment range on saddle and bars. A bike that fits several riders is worth more in a shared space.

Against the other 44 exercise bikes we stock, this sits in the middle at R6 802 — the range runs R689 to R47 740, so there is room to move either way if the fit is not right.

Saddle comfort is the most common complaint and the easiest thing to change — most bikes take a standard post.

On how much cardio is actually worth aiming for each week, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

The practical gap between light and heavy-duty exercise bikes is not the badge, it is the rating: frame gauge, bearing quality and how easily wear parts can be replaced. Buying slightly above your current needs is almost always cheaper than replacing early.
