Platinum Sb20 Commercial Spin Bike

Good training equipment earns its floor space, and the Platinum Sb20 Commercial Spin Bike is built to do exactly that. Made by Tunturi, it sits in our exercise bikes range for South African home gyms, studios and commercial floors.

In plain terms, this is a exercise bike intended for regular use rather than occasional. Full specifications are shown on this page and in the product images.

Ideal for

Think home riders training year round, and spin studios and group classes. Those are the situations where this piece makes the most sense.

Before you install it

Check the floor. Bikes concentrate weight on four small feet, so a mat protects both the surface and the machine.

Choosing the right one

Look at the drive system — belt drives are quieter and need less maintenance than chains.

Priced at R26 901, it is the 36th of 44 exercise bikes we list (R689 to R47 740). Worth comparing before you settle.

Keep the frame and flywheel wiped down. Sweat corrodes bolts and bearings faster than use does.

On how much cardio is actually worth aiming for each week, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

The practical gap between light and heavy-duty exercise bikes is not the badge, it is the rating: frame gauge, bearing quality and how easily wear parts can be replaced. Buying slightly above your current needs is almost always cheaper than replacing early.
