Impulse It9514 Ab Machine – 90kg (200lbs)

If you are putting together a space that has to work every day rather than look good once, the Impulse It9514 Ab Machine – 90kg (200lbs) is worth a close look. It comes from Impulse Fitness and forms part of our strength machines lineup.

Stripped of marketing language: this is a strength machine for people who train consistently. Stated details include 90kg.

Who it suits

It works best for commercial floors needing guided, repeatable movement, and isolating a muscle group safely under load. Outside that, there may be a better match in the range — ask us.

Getting it in place

Confirm the footprint and the working envelope. Guided machines need clearance for the movement arm as well as the frame, and that is often overlooked.

Before you decide

Look at adjustability — seat, pad and start position. A machine that fits a wide range of body sizes gets used far more.

Against the other 210 strength machines we stock, this sits in the middle at R31 536 — the range runs R1 120 to R49 665, so there is room to move either way if the fit is not right.

Periodically check that the stack pin and selector move freely — a sticking pin is the most common member complaint.

For context on how often adults should be training muscle groups, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

Browsing options? Strength, Commercial Strength, Cable Machines and Benches are the categories most people compare this against.

Commercial and home equipment differ mainly in duty cycle — how many hours a day the frame, bearings and upholstery are designed to take. Equipment built for occasional use will usually survive a home routine comfortably but will not last on a busy floor, and the difference shows in the parts you cannot see rather than the finish.
