Impulse Ru500 Commercial Upright Bike

The Impulse Ru500 Commercial Upright Bike is one of the exercise bikes options we supply to gyms and home setups across South Africa, made by Impulse Fitness. Here is what it does and who it suits.

In plain terms, this is a exercise bike intended for regular use rather than occasional. Full specifications are shown on this page and in the product images.

Best suited to

Think home riders training year round, and spin studios and group classes. Those are the situations where this piece makes the most sense.

Fitting it into your space

Check the floor. Bikes concentrate weight on four small feet, so a mat protects both the surface and the machine.

Points to weigh up

Look at the drive system — belt drives are quieter and need less maintenance than chains.

Priced at R26 901, it is the 36th of 44 exercise bikes we list (R689 to R47 740). Worth comparing before you settle.

Keep the frame and flywheel wiped down. Sweat corrodes bolts and bearings faster than use does.

On how much cardio is actually worth aiming for each week, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

If you are planning a full setup, Cardio, Exercise Bikes, Rowing Machines and Gym Flooring are the sections that usually go with this.

Commercial and home equipment differ mainly in duty cycle — how many hours a day the frame, bearings and upholstery are designed to take. Equipment built for occasional use will usually survive a home routine comfortably but will not last on a busy floor, and the difference shows in the parts you cannot see rather than the finish.

If you want the Impulse Ru500 Commercial Upright Bike checked against your setup before you commit, get in touch. We would rather spend five minutes on measurements than arrange a return.
