Rubber Covered Olympic Weight Plates

If you are putting together a space that has to work every day rather than look good once, the Rubber Covered Olympic Weight Plates is worth a close look. It forms part of our weight plates lineup.

Stripped of marketing language: this is a weight plate for people who train consistently. Stated details include rubber construction.

Who it suits

It works best for loading barbells, racks and plate-loaded machines, and expanding an existing weight set. Outside that, there may be a better match in the range — ask us.

Getting it in place

Check the bore before ordering. Olympic plates take a 50mm bar and standard plates take 25mm — mixing them is the most common purchasing error.

Before you decide

Build the range around your working sets, with enough small increments to progress sensibly.

Against the other 57 weight plates we stock, this sits in the middle at R1 242 — the range runs R108 to R8 514, so there is room to move either way if the fit is not right.

Check collars regularly; a worn collar is a genuine safety issue under load.

For context on how often adults should be training muscle groups, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

If you are planning a full setup, Free Weights, Weight Plates, Accessories and Barbells are the sections that usually go with this.

Commercial and home equipment differ mainly in duty cycle — how many hours a day the frame, bearings and upholstery are designed to take. Equipment built for occasional use will usually survive a home routine comfortably but will not last on a busy floor, and the difference shows in the parts you cannot see rather than the finish.

If you want the Rubber Covered Olympic Weight Plates checked against your setup before you commit, get in touch. We would rather spend five minutes on measurements than arrange a return.
