Rubber Grip Weight Plate With Ring (5kg)

Every gym has a piece of kit that quietly does most of the work. For a lot of setups the Rubber Grip Weight Plate With Ring (5kg) is that piece.

In plain terms, this is a weight plate intended for regular use rather than occasional. The listing states 5kg and rubber construction.

A good fit for

Think building out a lifting platform, and loading barbells, racks and plate-loaded machines. Those are the situations where this piece makes the most sense.

Setup notes

Think about storage from the start. Plate trees keep a floor safe and make loading much faster.

Worth thinking about

Check plate thickness if you load heavy — thinner plates fit more weight on a bar.

Priced at R283, it is the 6th of 57 weight plates we list (R108 to R8 514). Worth comparing before you settle.

Keep plates off damp concrete. Cast iron rusts, and rubber degrades faster in direct sun.

For context on how often adults should be training muscle groups, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.
