UBench Ai5 Stair Climber

Choosing steppers comes down to matching the equipment to how hard it will actually be worked. The UBench Ai5 Stair Climber, from UBench, is aimed at people who want something that holds up.

Stripped of marketing language: this is a stepper for people who train consistently. Where a measurement matters to you, ask us and we will confirm it before you order.

Who this is for

It works best for glute and leg conditioning, and high-intensity interval work. Outside that, there may be a better match in the range — ask us.

Installation and space

Measure the space and the route in before ordering. Doorways, corners and stairs are what turn a straightforward delivery into a problem.

What to consider

Think about who will use it and their size range. Adjustability decides how many people find it comfortable.

Against the other 13 steppers we stock, this sits in the middle at R106 518 — the range runs R1 341 to R137 065, so there is room to move either way if the fit is not right.

Store or cover it if the space is damp, particularly for anything with a steel frame.

On how much cardio is actually worth aiming for each week, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

Commercial and home equipment differ mainly in duty cycle — how many hours a day the frame, bearings and upholstery are designed to take. Equipment built for occasional use will usually survive a home routine comfortably but will not last on a busy floor, and the difference shows in the parts you cannot see rather than the finish.
