Vanguard Fitness 20kg Olympic Barbell

If you are putting together a space that has to work every day rather than look good once, the Vanguard Fitness 20kg Olympic Barbell is worth a close look. It comes from Vanguard Fitness and forms part of our barbells lineup.

What you are getting is a barbell designed to be used properly and often. It is listed with 20kg.

Who it suits

This one suits lifters who want a bar that holds up under load, and home platforms and commercial floors. If that describes your setup, it will earn its place.

Getting it in place

Store bars horizontally on a rack or vertically in a holder; leaning them against a wall bends them over time.

Before you decide

Knurling and whip decide how the bar feels. Aggressive knurl suits pulling, a moderate knurl is more comfortable for high-rep work.

We stock 68 barbells between R238 and R8 599; this one is in the middle at R2 696.

A light oil on the shaft prevents rust in humid conditions, which matters in coastal areas.

For context on how often adults should be training muscle groups, the World Health Organization physical activity guidelines are a sensible, independent starting point.

The practical gap between light and heavy-duty barbells is not the badge, it is the rating: frame gauge, bearing quality and how easily wear parts can be replaced. Buying slightly above your current needs is almost always cheaper than replacing early.
