Discounted equipment tends to be bought once and used for years, so it is worth comparing properly. All 562 options we carry are on this page, with pricing shown up front.

What you will find here

Discounted equipment in this range varies more than the category name suggests. The listings break down into strength, commercial strength, dumbbells, benches and related items. Brands in this category include UBench, Impulse Fitness, Active, Force Fitness and LivePro, among others.

Discounted equipment suits home gyms, studios and commercial floors in particular. Where a listing is borderline for your use, the specification on the product page usually settles it — and if it does not, ask us.

Choosing the right one

Discounted equipment varies most in the details that never appear in a headline description.

  • Match the resistance range to where you expect to be in two years, not where you are now — outgrowing equipment early is a common regret.
  • Warranty and parts availability matter more than headline specification once equipment is a few years old.
  • Read the full specification rather than the headline. The number in the title is rarely the one that decides whether something suits you.
  • Frame gauge and overall mass are the clearest signal of how much daily use something will take — heavier steel is not marketing, it is the reason a unit stays rigid under load.
  • Moving parts are where equipment fails first, so look at bearing and bushing quality and whether wear parts can be replaced rather than requiring a whole new assembly.

Home or commercial?

Discounted equipment is sold in both home and commercial grades, and the distinction is worth understanding before you compare prices. Commercial-grade builds cost more because they assume continuous use by people of every size, which is a much harder brief than one household. A home-rated unit used commercially will normally fall outside its intended use, which is worth checking before buying for a business.

Practical considerations

Discounted equipment should be positioned before it arrives, not after. Damp garages and outdoor patios are hard on steel, foam and upholstery, so plan for covering or storing anything sensitive. Think about where you will stand to use it, not just where it will sit — the two are often different. Mirrors help with form on anything technical and are cheap relative to the equipment they sit alongside.

Budget

Discounted equipment here range from R70 for the smallest items up to R131 118 for complete packages, and the typical listing sits near R12 665. What you are paying for at the upper end is steel, bearings and serviceability, all of which show up as longevity rather than as anything you notice on day one.

Maintenance worth doing

Discounted equipment bought well should last years, and simple upkeep is most of what decides whether it do. Store anything with a steel frame away from persistent damp, particularly in coastal areas where corrosion moves quickly. Bolts work loose over the first few weeks of use on almost any bolted frame, so a quick check with a spanner after the initial period is worth doing. Note the model and serial number somewhere safe — sourcing the right replacement part is much easier with it than without.

It is also worth a look at multi-gyms and all-in-one trainers, flooring, cardio machines and accessories before deciding.
